Harnessing the value of diagnostic information
‘in the new normal’
Health-related information is a key enabler of sustainable, value-driven healthcare delivery. Diagnostic information is critical to modern healthcare and, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, has a major role to play in returning to the ‘new normal’. Diagnostic tests are essential to governments’ efforts to contain the pandemic and re-start economies.
However, the value of diagnostic information is not always reflected in the way they are reimbursed. Rather than looking at the value they bring, In-Vitro diagnostics (IVDs) are reimbursed based on the cost of test kits or equipment used to analyse samples.
To explore the Value of Diagnostic Information (VODI), MedTech Europe will host a webinar on 7 October with the participation of external stakeholders active in the healthcare sector. The webinar will provide an opportunity to discuss how healthcare systems in Europe can truly harness the value of diagnostic information to become more resilient in combating both acute, infectious diseases as well as chronic conditions. We will also have the opportunity to discuss a series of case studies looking at the role of IVDs in a number of areas, including heart failure and acute respiratory infections.
